Former Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has become an adviser to Italian Defence Minister Guido Crosetto. Fedorov announced the appointment following a visit to Italy and a meeting with Crosetto.
“I thanked Guido for his personal support and for the offer to become his adviser on defence innovation. I am grateful for the trust and strategic partnership. In this role, I will help Italy develop modern warfare technologies, improve its defence sector and adapt to new global security challenges,” Fedorov wrote on Telegram.
He stressed that Ukraine has unique experience in technology-driven warfare that it is ready to share with its partners.
“At the same time, my main focus remains unchanged — I will continue working in Ukraine on projects that strengthen our defence and help attract international resources,” Fedorov said.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed drones, autonomous systems, air defence and the development of the defence tech ecosystem.
“The future of defence belongs to countries capable of rapidly testing and scaling new solutions, combining technology with strong manufacturing capabilities. Ukraine’s experience can become the foundation for a new European defence model. We are continuing our international trip, with further meetings with partners ahead on digitalisation, defence technologies and the development of new projects,” Fedorov said.
Fedorov’s press office told journalists that he would continue to live and work in Ukraine.
“Following the first working meeting, Mykhailo Fedorov agreed to advise the Italian Defence Minister on a non-staff basis on modern warfare technologies and the development of defence innovation. At the same time, his primary area of activity remains his work in Ukraine on projects related to the war, strengthening the country’s defence capabilities and developing Ukraine’s defence tech sector. Mykhailo Fedorov will continue to live and work in Kyiv,” his press secretary Snizhana Rakcheieva said.
