Multiple Ukrainian regions suffer casualties in intense Russian attacks

Over the past day, Russian forces intensified their assaults across several Ukrainian regions, inflicting casualties and widespread damage to civilian infrastructure.

Zaporizhzhia Region

The Zaporizhzhia region bore the brunt of relentless attacks, with Russian forces launching 503 strikes across 13 settlements, according to Ivan Fedorov, head of the regional military administration. These included five airstrikes targeting Kamianske, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, and Novodanylivka.

The region was also subjected to massive drone assaults, with 337 unmanned aerial vehicles—mostly FPV types—attacking multiple locations including Zaporizhzhia city, Balabyne, Malokaterynivka, and others. Additionally, eight MLRS rocket strikes and 153 artillery shellings targeted various settlements, causing extensive damage to homes, cars, garages, and administrative buildings. Fedorov reported 20 people injured during these attacks and confirmed 64 damage reports across the region.

Mykolaiv Region

In the Mykolaiv region, Russian forces attacked the Vesnyanska community overnight with Shahed-131/136 drones, injuring a 51-year-old man whose condition remained serious. The strike also caused fires at two summer houses and dry grass, which were extinguished by emergency services. Ukrainian air defenses successfully shot down two more drones during the night.

Earlier, the Kutsurub community was shelled multiple times with artillery and FPV drones, damaging a store’s roof and power lines as well as causing dry grass fires near Solonchaky village. No casualties were reported.

Kherson Region

The Kherson region experienced a deadly day, with one person killed and four others injured as a result of continued Russian drone attacks, artillery shelling, and airstrikes, according to Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional State Administration. The strikes targeted numerous towns and villages, including Antonivka, Beryslav, and Kherson city itself. Damage was reported to residential buildings, an enterprise, garages, and other structures.

Dnipropetrovsk Region

Russian forces attacked the Nikopol district with FPV drones and artillery shelling, injuring a 37-year-old man who was hospitalized, Serhiy Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, reported. Several communities including Nikopol, Marhanetska, and Pokrovska were hit, and a civilian car was damaged during the strikes.

Sumy Region

Between July 7 and 8, Russian forces carried out 120 strikes on 34 settlements in the Sumy region, resulting in four deaths and multiple injuries, the Sumy Regional Military Administration reported. Fatalities included men in the Khotin and Yunakivska communities, as well as a man in the Mykolaivka rural community. Several civilians sustained injuries from drone strikes and shelling.

The attacks included drone-dropped grenades, guided bomb strikes, missile launches, and multiple UAV assaults. Damage was reported to civilian infrastructure, including homes, outbuildings, a tractor, and non-residential buildings. Seventeen residents from border communities were evacuated for safety.
