The Russian army continues attempting to test Ukrainian defenses in various sectors and will try to expand its zone of control. This was stated by the spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service, Andrii Demchenko.
“In the defense zones of the State Border Guard Service units and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian troops continue trying to probe Ukrainian defenses,” the spokesperson noted.
According to him, the Russian forces are likely currently regrouping its forces, particularly within the Vovchansk community. This mainly concerns the directions of the settlements of Dihtiarne, Pishchane, and Rybalkyne. It is also observed that the Russian forces are conducting active aerial reconnaissance.
The State Border Guard Service spokesperson said that, according to Ukrainian command, several directions have been identified where the Russian forces may attempt to increase pressure. At present, 12 sectors have been identified where the Russian forces, using forces ranging from an assault company to possibly a battalion, may attempt to expand its zone of control.
Demchenko emphasized that the enemy currently cannot advance. “Of course, spring is ahead, and then the summer period, which may be more favorable for the enemy to use assault groups for attacks.”
At the same time, the Defense Forces of Ukraine are doing everything possible to destroy the Russian troops even on the approaches to the Ukrainian border.
“There is a sense that the enemy will continue taking steps to try to create a ‘buffer zone’ and achieve greater results. At the moment this is not being observed, but I will emphasize again that the enemy will continue trying to do so,” Demchenko stressed.
