On the night of October 6, the Moscow region came under a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack. Nine people were injured and two were killed.
According to Astra, one of the targets was the Volodarskaya Line Production and Dispatch Station (LPDS), the largest oil products storage facility in the Moscow region and part of Transnefteprodukt.
Up to 3 million tonnes of petroleum products are transported through the facility by pipeline each year, including petrol, aviation fuel and diesel supplied by the Moscow and Ryazan oil refineries. The facility supplies fuel to Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo airports, among other destinations.

Several days earlier, on October 2, the Ukrainian military struck Transneft’s largest oil hub in Russia, the Samara Line Production and Dispatch Station in the Samara region.
The facility has 71 storage tanks with a total capacity of more than 1.6 million cubic metres of oil and serves as a junction for four major oil pipelines: Almetyevsk–Kuibyshev, Kaltasy–Kuibyshev, Nizhnevartovsk–Kurgan–Kuibyshev and Guryev–Kuibyshev.
A fire broke out at the Samara LPDS following the attack.
