Ukraine is preparing to expand the Anti-Ballistic Coalition with the aim of creating an affordable and effective system for countering Russian missiles, with testing planned for this year, President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
“The task remains unchanged: to prepare a result this year that can be tested. We need a system that is effective, can be produced on a sufficiently large scale and, preferably, is cheaper than what is currently available in the world,” the President said in his evening address.
According to Zelensky, leading European defence companies have already joined the programme.
“Cooperation with manufacturers and cooperation with countries is progressing quite productively. I want to thank everyone who is helping us. The strongest European companies capable of making a real contribution to anti-ballistic defence are already part of our FREYJA programme,” he said.
The President also said Ukraine is preparing a series of meetings with partners in the United States. The talks will focus on new support packages, including air defence, strengthening energy and food security, as well as negotiations aimed at bringing peace closer.
