Latvia has begun delivering a batch of CVR(T) combat armored vehicles to Ukraine as part of military aid, with deliveries already underway.
The equipment is intended to fully equip a battalion-level unit.
During a meeting with Latvian Defense Minister Andris Sprūds, Ukraine’s Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov discussed the development of mutually beneficial defense cooperation.
During talks with Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister for European Integration Serhii Boiev, the Latvian delegation was briefed on the current battlefield situation. Ukraine reported increasing losses of Russian forces and presented key projects under the War Plan, including the Drone Line initiative and ensuring basic UAV supply to brigades. One of Ukraine’s goals is to inflict losses that make further enemy advances impossible.

The parties also discussed joint projects in the defense-industrial sector and the development of military technologies. In particular, they examined the potential of the Drone Coalition, where Latvia is a leading member. This platform is considered a key venue for coordinating efforts and exchanging experience.
Special attention was given to the prospects for deploying ground robotic systems on the front lines and plans to expand production of key types of unmanned systems, including:
- FPV drones;
- Deep-strike drones;
- Medium-strike drones.
Ukraine expressed gratitude to Latvia for comprehensive support, including its decision to allocate 0.25% of GDP annually to aid Ukraine and its participation in the critical PURL program.
