On October 16, 2025, the international conference “Responsible Business for Ukraine’s Recovery: Path to Sustainable Investment and European Integration” will be held in a hybrid format (Kyiv and online).

The event is organized by the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The conference will bring together leading experts, government officials, business representatives, and international organizations. Participants will discuss strategic approaches to attracting responsible investment and implementing international corporate sustainability standards.

In the context of post-war recovery in Ukraine, the principles of responsible business conduct and human rights due diligence (HRDD) are of critical importance. With the adoption of the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), these principles become a legal obligation for European companies and their Ukrainian partners in supply chains.

Integrating responsible business standards into reconstruction and investment processes strengthens Ukraine’s position in the global economy, brings it closer to EU membership, and creates a business environment with minimized risks to human rights and the environment.

The programme will include plenary sessions with participation from Ukrainian government leaders and international experts on the strategic role of responsible business in reconstruction, investment attraction, and European integration.

Panel discussions with representatives of government, business, financial institutions, and civil society will cover topics such as: stakeholder engagement and protection of vulnerable groups’ rights; the role of responsible investors in recovery; green financing and climate-resilient reconstruction; practical approaches to implementing HRDD in corporate governance and supply chains.

A high-level closing discussion will define strategic priorities for Ukraine’s development on its path toward the EU and global economic integration.

Participants will include representatives of national and local government, enterprises and business associations, financial institutions and investment companies, NGOs and trade unions, research institutions, and international organizations.

Co-organizers include Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, the Office for Green Transition at the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine, and the NGO “Social Action Center.” International partners include the Danish Institute for Human Rights, the Raoul Wallenberg Institute, Swedwatch, and the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on Corporate Sustainability and Human Rights (Wageningen University). Media support is provided by the Office of Responsible Development and the Professional Association of Environmentalists (PAEW).

The conference aims to promote responsible business as a key element of Ukraine’s post-war economic strategy, creating a space for dialogue between Ukrainian stakeholders and international investors to align practices with UN, OECD, and EU standards.

The event will serve as a key platform to determine ways to integrate corporate responsibility principles into reconstruction processes, attract sustainable investment, and advance Ukraine’s European course.

Detailed information about the programme will be released separately.
