During the night of August 9, a Russian attack on Zhytomyr region struck and damaged civilian infrastructure, including a German-owned manufacturing enterprise.
The head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Bunechko, said that, according to preliminary information, three people were injured. One person was hospitalized with burns, while two others suffered acute stress reactions. The attack also hit a private residential house, and debris fell on nearby homes and outbuildings.
Later in the day, it was confirmed that the targeted enterprise was Kromberg & Schubert Zhytomyr. The company said its production facilities and infrastructure sustained severe damage and extensive destruction.
No employees were injured.
"Due to the significant level of damage, the company has been forced to temporarily suspend operations for an indefinite period.
"The possible timeline for resuming operations will become clear after a technical assessment is completed and the full scope of restoration work has been determined," the company said.
Kromberg & Schubert Zhytomyr is a civilian manufacturing company with 100% German investment that has operated in the Zhytomyr region for the past 11 years.
The company manufactures electrical wiring systems for international automotive brands, including MAN and Škoda.
