Japan's Ministry of Defence has signed a contract to purchase interceptor drones manufactured by Ukrainian company SkyFall, Japanese Defence Minister Shinjiro Koizumi announced.

"Japan's Ministry of Defence has already signed a contract to purchase interceptor drones from the Ukrainian company SkyFall. We are now working to ensure their delivery as quickly as possible," Koizumi said.

During a press conference, the minister highlighted Ukraine's experience in developing and rapidly improving defence technologies.

In particular, he pointed to Ukraine's "rapid feedback mechanism", which enables developers to introduce drones with new capabilities every two to three weeks.

According to Koizumi, Japan has much to learn from Ukraine, both in developing its defence industry and strengthening its industrial base.

The minister emphasised that Japan needs effective deterrence and response capabilities and will continue exploring specific solutions to strengthen them.
