Italian Ambassador to Ukraine Carlo Formosa has awarded the Order of the Star of Italy to Anatolii Solovianenko, Chief Stage Director of the National Opera of Ukraine, and Maksym Tymoshenko, Rector of the Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music.
The Italian Embassy in Ukraine reported this.
“During an official ceremony, Ambassador Formosa, on behalf of the President of the Italian Republic, presented state honours to Solovianenko and Tymoshenko, awarding them the ranks of Officer and Knight respectively,” the embassy said.
According to the ambassador, the honours awarded to Anatolii Solovianenko and Maksym Tymoshenko recognise their personal contribution to the development of Ukrainian culture, music and education, as well as to strengthening cultural ties between Ukraine and Italy.
The embassy stressed that at this difficult time for Ukraine, culture continues to be one of the most powerful instruments of international dialogue, promoting mutual understanding and strengthening European unity.
The Order of the Star of Italy is one of the highest state honours of the Italian Republic and is awarded for outstanding contributions to the development of friendly relations and cooperation between Italy and other countries. The order has five classes, ranging from Knight to Knight Grand Cross.
Ukrainians who have previously received the honour include footballer and coach Andriy Shevchenko, who was awarded the rank of Commander in 2018, as well as Ukrainian conductors Mykola Diadiura and Bohdan Plish, who received the ranks of Officer and Knight respectively in 2024.
