Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that Russia has attacked Azerbaijan’s diplomatic missions and energy infrastructure in Ukraine three times, highlighting the deliberate nature of the assaults.

He made the remarks during a panel on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

“In Ukraine, there were not only attacks on Azerbaijan’s energy infrastructure, but also three assaults on Azerbaijan’s diplomatic missions in Ukraine. After the first attack, we could have assumed it was accidental. We provided our Russian colleagues with all the coordinates of Azerbaijan’s diplomatic facilities, including the consular section, cultural center, and embassy. Despite this, two more attacks occurred. Therefore, this is a deliberate attack on Azerbaijan’s diplomatic mission,” Aliyev said.

The Azerbaijani president noted that the issue of Russian attacks on Azerbaijan’s energy infrastructure and diplomatic missions in Ukraine has been repeatedly raised during numerous contacts between officials at the level of foreign ministries and presidential administrations.

“We issued special statements, summoned the ambassador, and delivered a diplomatic note. We act exclusively through diplomatic means. We cannot do anything else… The Azerbaijani government has taken all necessary diplomatic steps,” the president emphasized.

He stressed that such actions by Russia are considered unfriendly toward Azerbaijan.
