The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has sent another mission to Ukraine to assess the condition of electrical substations that ensure the stable operation of nuclear power plants. This is already the seventh such mission; the previous one took place earlier this year. This was reported by First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal.

“The team will visit 14 electrical substations. Such assessments help strengthen the resilience of the energy system and improve the level of nuclear safety. In winter, Russia attempted to destroy these substations, which threatened the stable operation of nuclear power plants and nuclear safety in Europe,” the head of the Ministry of Energy noted.

Denys Shmyhal thanked the IAEA and personally the agency’s Director General Rafael Grossi for consistent efforts aimed at strengthening safety and responding to risks. He also highlighted the systematic work of IAEA missions in Ukraine and their continuous presence at key facilities.
