The situation in the area of responsibility of the Southern Group of Forces is developing dynamically. Over the past day, 22 combat engagements were recorded in the Huliaipole sector, while five engagements each took place in the Orikhiv and Oleksandrivka sectors.
This was reported on television by Southern Defense Forces spokesperson Vladyslav Voloshyn.
“The situation in the operational zone of the Southern Group of Forces is developing dynamically across several sections of the front. However, the most active area is the Huliaipole sector. There were 22 combat engagements there over the past day. In addition, five combat engagements each occurred in the Orikhiv and Oleksandrivka sectors. Fighting continues there as well, although at a lower intensity. The enemy is trying to break through in certain areas and seize our positions, but so far has failed,” Voloshyn said.
According to him, Russian forces continue to actively employ aviation, carry out artillery strikes, and maintain a high level of FPV drone and fixed-wing drone usage, while seeking to expand their so-called “kill zone.”
Asked whether the Russian forces are building up forces and equipment, Voloshyn said there are currently no signs of a major buildup. However, Russian forces are continuously replenishing losses and rotating units that have been involved in assault operations and have lost combat effectiveness.
“There is no indication that the enemy is bringing in large numbers of fresh forces and equipment. What we do see is the ongoing rotation of units, without question,” he noted.
Speaking about the Orikhiv sector, the spokesperson said the most active fighting is taking place near Stepnohirsk.
“Both the Ukrainian Defence Forces and the enemy are conducting active operations there. Our forces are trying to destroy the enemy and regain previously lost positions, while the Russians are unwilling to retreat because they have specific deadlines and objectives related to capturing Stepnohirsk and advancing along the shore of the former Kakhovka Reservoir toward Zaporizhzhia. As a result, fierce fighting continues,” Voloshyn explained.
He also reported that near the villages of Maly Shcherbaky and Shcherbaky, Russian forces attempted to infiltrate Ukrainian positions using a pipeline. The group was detected and destroyed by Ukrainian defenders.
Directly near Orikhiv, Russian troops continue attempts to reach the outskirts of the town. These efforts have so far been unsuccessful, but the Russian forces are carrying out heavy artillery bombardments and airstrikes in an attempt to destroy Ukrainian positions.
In the Huliaipole sector, the most intense Russian attacks are taking place near the village of Charivne, where more than a dozen combat engagements were recorded over the past day alone.
