The European Investment Bank (EIB) will allocate a new €500 million support package to Ukraine aimed at restoring critical infrastructure and supporting small and medium-sized businesses.

This was reported by EIB Vice President Karl Nehammer.

“We are currently investing €500 million in the private and public sectors,” he said.

According to him, in the public sector the bank will allocate funds to restore roads and bridges, build social housing, and ensure access to safe water supply.

At the same time, a significant part of the package is intended to support Ukrainian businesses through affordable lending for small and medium-sized enterprises.

“We aim to provide affordable loans to small and medium-sized enterprises. In this way, we support their development and job creation,” the bank representative stressed.

Nehammer emphasized that supporting entrepreneurship is important not only for the economy but also for the return of Ukrainians after the war.

“In this way, we help create Ukraine’s future — for veterans and for people who want to return home,” he said.

According to the EIB vice president, financing will be provided through guarantees to local banks, enabling them to offer affordable loans to businesses, as well as through direct funding of individual projects.

Nehammer noted that even during wartime, Ukraine needs continuous investment to maintain economic activity and prepare for future reconstruction.
