Ukrainian drones attacked several major warehouses belonging to Russian marketplace Ozon in southern Russia overnight on August 24.
The first target was a logistics centre in Krasnodar. “According to preliminary information, there were no casualties. A major fire broke out at the warehouse,” the company said.
Drones later struck Ozon’s largest warehouse in the North Caucasus, located in Dagestan.
In addition, Ozon warehouses in Adygeysk and Nevinnomyssk were evacuated overnight due to the threat of drone attacks. No employees at these facilities were injured, according to the company.
Over the past several days, Ukrainian drones have also attacked two Ozon logistics centres in Russia’s Samara region and Orenburg. Fires broke out in both cases, temporarily halting operations at the facilities.
Ozon is Russia’s second-largest online marketplace. Previously, the Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out strikes over the course of a month against warehouses belonging to Wildberries, the country’s largest marketplace. A total of 12 major logistics centres were reportedly put out of operation or completely destroyed. Damage from the strikes was estimated at nearly RUB 1 trillion, while the company reportedly lost a quarter of its logistics capacity.
Meanwhile, Ozon had been preparing in advance for possible strikes on its infrastructure. Since late July, the company has reportedly been moving high-value goods from warehouses to pickup points.
Ozon operates a total of 47 logistics complexes and more than 170 sorting centres across Russia.
