A drone that entered Romanian airspace during another Russian drone attack on Ukrainian cities has been found in Romania, according to Romania Journal.
The drone was discovered on Monday afternoon near the village of Ciușlea in Vrancea County, close to the border with Galați County.
Romania’s Ministry of National Defence said its radar surveillance system had detected intermittent signals in Moldovan airspace near Cahul. One of the signals was later detected near the town of Târgu Bujor in Galați County, prompting authorities to issue a RO-Alert warning.
Moldova’s Defence Ministry later reported that a drone of unknown origin had arrived from the direction of Odessa before entering Romanian airspace.
Several residents of Galați County reported on social media that they had seen a drone flying over their homes, as well as aircraft and a helicopter deployed by Romanian authorities as part of the search operation.
The drone crashed near the property of a local resident in the village of Ciușlea, Vrancea County, close to the border with Galați County.
According to media reports, it is highly likely to be the same drone that Romanian authorities had been searching for for several hours.
Emergency services are heading to the site to investigate the circumstances of the crash and determine the drone’s origin.
