At the international military exercises Sea Breeze 2025, Ukrainian ships will practice mine countermeasure operations.

This was announced on a TV broadcast by the spokesperson of the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk.

“We are working on mine countermeasure tasks, which involve searching for and neutralizing explosive devices. For this, we use both the equipment installed on our mine countermeasure vessels and special units that also participate in mine clearance activities—not only during the exercises but also directly in the waters of our territorial sea, ensuring the daily operation of our grain corridor. So, the main focus is on mine countermeasure activities,” Pletenchuk said.

He noted that Ukraine currently has combat experience at sea that its partners do not possess. At the same time, it is important for Ukraine to gain experience in using the latest weapons systems, especially those provided by partners.

As Pletenchuk reminded, four mine countermeasure ships are currently participating in the Sea Breeze 2025 exercises: two Alkmaar-class and two Sandown-class vessels.

According to the Navy spokesperson, three crew members of one of the ships are graduates of a Ukrainian Naval Forces educational institution.
