On the southern front, the situation shows certain tendencies toward escalation. In particular, over the past day, Russian forces slightly increased the number of kamikaze drone strikes, ammunition usage, and artillery shelling.

This was reported on air by the Southern Defense Forces spokesperson, Vladyslav Voloshyn.

“The situation is quite difficult and shows tendencies toward escalation. This is evident in the fact that over the past day, the enemy slightly increased the number of kamikaze drone strikes, artillery shelling, not only targeting the positions of Ukraine’s Defense Forces but also settlements near the front line, and increased the amount of ammunition used in these attacks,” Voloshyn said.

According to the spokesperson, overall, there were slightly fewer combat engagements in the south compared to some other directions.

“In the south, there were 13 combat engagements, eight of which occurred in the Huliaipole direction, where the enemy has been unsuccessfully trying for several days to take control of Poltavka. Additionally, four engagements took place in the Orikhiv direction near the settlements of Kamianske and Stepove, and the enemy attempted to assault our positions near the Antonivka Bridges in the Prydniprovske direction. All of these attempts were unsuccessful,” he said.

Voloshyn also reported that in the Orikhiv direction, near the settlement of Stepove, Russian forces again used motorcycles in their assault, but they were unsuccessful, suffered losses, and withdrew.
