Russian forces increased the number of assault operations in May by 37.5%—to more than 7,000 attacks—but advanced only 14 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory, according to the OSINT project DeepState.

“According to our map, over May the enemy occupied only 14 sq km of Ukrainian territory… we are ready to state that this is the first month in recent years after the 2023 counteroffensive when the growth of occupied territory… became negative… An interesting fact is the increase in assault actions—by 37.5%. We have a record of more than 7,000 attacks. But there is no major result,” the project reported on its Telegram channel.

Analysts note that infiltration attempts by Russian forces continue, but the response of Ukrainian Defense Forces to Russian army's penetration has significantly improved, preventing the Russian troops from accumulating forces.

"Unfortunately, the situation in Kostiantynivka remains problematic, and the outlook for the city is far from positive," the project reported
