According to the analytical project DeepState, Russian forces occupied more Ukrainian territory in July than Ukraine's Defense Forces were able to recapture.
"The enemy occupied more territory in July than the Defense Forces of Ukraine regained. The net increase on the map amounts to 36 square kilometers," the analysts said.
At the same time, DeepState revised its data for May through July, noting that Ukrainian territorial gains are often reflected with a delay.
"In July, we reduced the area of occupied territory by 52 square kilometers. Of that, 25 square kilometers relate to May and 27 square kilometers to June. As a result, the enemy's actual territorial gain in July may amount to 88 square kilometers. Nevertheless, the Defense Forces achieved additional successes in July. Although these were more limited than in previous months, they did occur," the analysts said.
DeepState also reported that there have been Ukrainian advances in at least two additional sectors, covering approximately 49 and 83 square kilometers.
"As soon as the Defense Forces officially announce these successes, we will disclose the details and recalculate the statistics," the analysts added.
The analysts also stressed that Russia's goal of occupying the entire Donetsk region in 2026 is unrealistic.
"At the current pace, they will not achieve it even in 2027," the report said.
