Daily cost of war for Ukraine rises to $190 million

One day of war costs Ukraine’s state budget $190 million in 2026, excluding weapons supplied by international partners.

Roksolana Pidlasa, Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Budget Committee, reported this.

In 2024, one day of war cost Ukraine $140 million.

Pidlasa said the main reason for the increase in the cost of the war is the expansion of the armed forces and, consequently, the growing number of service members and their families supported by the state.

Another factor is the need for more weapons, particularly medium- and long-range strike systems capable of targeting Russian oil refineries.

“Over the first eight months, national security and defence cost almost $42 billion, excluding military assistance provided in kind, while we raised only $39 billion from our own resources — revenues and domestic government bonds. As a result, we can no longer cover even the share of expenditure that we previously financed ourselves. The Defence Forces have also reported an additional funding requirement of $27 billion through the end of the year,” Pidlasa said.
