Canada will supply Ukraine with AIM missiles to enhance air defense capabilities and counter enemy cruise missiles. The weapons are already in the process of being transferred to Ukraine.

This issue of further defense support was discussed during a meeting between Ukraine’s Minister of Defense, Mykhailo Fedorov, and Canada’s Minister of National Defense, David McGuinty. The Ukrainian side expressed gratitude to Canada for its consistent and effective support of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Special recognition was given to Canada’s contribution to the PURL initiative. Recent contributions under the program were decisive in repelling large-scale enemy air attacks. Ukraine expects continued PURL support throughout this year. The parties also discussed an agreement to facilitate drone production. There are significant prospects for industrial cooperation between Ukrainian and Canadian governments and companies, particularly in drone management.

Another key area of cooperation remains the training of Ukrainian servicemen with a focus on preserving lives. The parties discussed transforming the training system, including a shift to a model in which top specialists train others and gradually moving training centers underground to enhance safety.
