Canada has expanded its sanctions against Russia, imposing restrictions on individuals linked to violations of the rights of Ukrainian children, the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.

“Canada is imposing sanctions against eight individuals who are currently or were previously involved in the illegal deportation and forced transfer of Ukrainian children, as well as their indoctrination and militarisation,” the ministry said.

Canadian sanctions related to Russia’s violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty currently cover more than 3,500 individuals and entities, as well as more than 600 vessels linked to Russia’s shadow fleet.

Canada last expanded its sanctions against Russia in August.
