Sofia is ready to hold consultations with Kyiv on ways to increase natural gas transit volumes through Bulgarian territory to Ukraine.
This was stated by Bulgaria’s new Ambassador to Ukraine, Zlatin Krastev, after presenting his credentials to President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to BTA.
“Bulgaria is ready for joint consultations to explore ways of increasing natural gas transit volumes through Bulgaria to Ukraine,” Krastev said.
According to the ambassador, the Bulgarian government is ready to work promptly on developing energy cooperation with Ukraine. He also expressed Bulgaria’s readiness to deepen bilateral political dialogue, expand economic cooperation, and continue joint work on specific projects of mutual interest.
Zlatin Krastev was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to Ukraine by a decree of the Bulgarian president dated November 19, 2025. He previously served as deputy defence minister and worked at Bulgaria’s Permanent Delegation to NATO.
