Belarus has resumed active support for Russian forces by providing its infrastructure to help direct strike drones deeper into Ukrainian territory. The Russian attack on the Yahodyn border crossing was made possible by Belarusian relay stations being switched on, according to Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
According to him, Russia is using neighbouring Belarusian territory to strengthen signals and coordinate its strike systems.
“At present, Belarus is actively assisting Russia in attacks on Ukrainian territory. This includes relay stations that are switched on in Belarus and strengthen the signal for Russian Shahed and Gerbera drones. After entering from Russian territory, these drones remain close to the Belarusian border so that they can receive this signal and fly deeper into Ukraine, particularly into the western regions — Rivne, Volyn and Lviv. The attack towards the Yahodyn border crossing, for example, was also carried out with support from Belarus,” Demchenko said.
The State Border Guard Service spokesperson noted that Belarus had previously temporarily switched off the equipment following an official warning from the President of Ukraine that supporting Russian operations through the use of relay stations was unacceptable. However, Belarus has now resumed their operation.
At the same time, Demchenko stressed that despite the continuing threat from Belarus, there are currently no signs of strike forces being formed near the Ukrainian border in preparation for another ground invasion.
