On July 6, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Azerbaijan, Mikhail Yevdokimov, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As reported by AZERTAC, the Foreign Ministry’s press service said that during the meeting a strong protest was expressed regarding a drone attack on a SOCAR filling station in the Mykolaiv region of Ukraine on the evening of July 5, and a corresponding note was handed to the Russian side.

It was noted at the meeting that this drone strike is not the first such incident. It was recalled that SOCAR-owned facilities in Ukraine, including a gas distribution compressor station and an oil depot in Odessa, had previously already been subjected to military strikes and other destructive consequences of hostilities. As a result, significant material damage was caused, and company employees were injured.

It was noted that, despite repeated warnings, the continuation of such incidents indicates the deliberate nature of the attacks.

At the meeting, attention was also drawn to several airstrikes that damaged the buildings of our embassy in Kyiv and the honorary consulate in Kharkiv, and the importance of strict compliance with obligations to protect buildings of diplomatic and consular missions in accordance with the Vienna Conventions was emphasized.

The Russian side was urged to conduct a comprehensive investigation into all the mentioned facts, provide appropriate explanations for each of the incidents, and comply with international obligations to ensure the protection of civilian facilities and diplomatic representations.
