Ukraine's interception rate for jet-powered drones has increased to 76%, compared with approximately 60% last month, Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Yurii Ihnat said during a television broadcast.
"Today, Russia launched 128 drones of various types, including Gerbera, Parodiya and jet-powered UAVs. Of the 128 drones, 77 were jet-powered, which is a significant number. Russia is increasing the proportion of jet-powered drones in each attack. Nevertheless, the overall interception rate across all drone types reached 90%," Ihnat said.
According to the spokesperson, Ukrainian air defences shot down or suppressed 115 drones, including 59 jet-powered UAVs.
"We are making progress. I would emphasise that last month the interception rate for jet-powered drones was around 60%. During today's attack, it increased to 76%," he said.
Ihnat acknowledged that intercepting every drone remains impossible.
He also noted that jet-powered UAVs are relatively expensive to manufacture, with a single engine costing approximately $40,000.
The spokesperson stressed the need for stronger sanctions against Russia to restrict its ability to produce such weapons.
