On the night of August 18 (starting at 18:00 on August 17), the Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 147 Shahed-type attack UAVs, including jet-powered variants, as well as Gerbera drones and Parodiya-type decoy drones. They were launched from Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as from the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk region and Crimea.
The air attack was repelled by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 08:00, air defenses had shot down or suppressed 111 Shahed, Gerbera and other types of UAVs in the north, south and east of the country.
Russian drone strikes were recorded at 19 locations, while debris from downed drones fell at three locations.
