Air defence intercepts 409 drones in overnight Russian attack

On the night of September 13 (starting from 18:00 on September 12), Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 453 Shahed-type strike UAVs, including jet-powered variants, as well as Gerbera drones, Parodiya-type decoy drones and S8000 Banderol missiles.

The aerial targets were launched from Shatalovo, Oryol, Kursk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea and the Sea of Azov.

The air attack was repelled by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Defence Forces of Ukraine.

According to preliminary data, as of 08:00, Ukraine’s air defence shot down or suppressed 405 Russian UAVs, including Shahed and Gerbera drones and other types of UAVs, as well as four S8000 Banderol missiles.

Russian aerial weapons struck 13 locations, while debris from downed targets fell at seven locations.
