On the night of March 16 (from 18:00 on March 15) and during this morning, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 211 strike drones of the Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas types, as well as other drones, from the directions of Orel, Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk – Russia, and Hvardiiske – occupied Crimea, with over 100 of them being Shaheds.
Notably, the Russian forces carried out an unusual morning attack using strike drones of various types toward Kyiv region. The main targets were Odessa, Zaporizhzhia, and Kyiv regions.
The air attack was repelled by Ukrainian aviation, surface-to-air missile units, electronic warfare and drone units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
According to preliminary data, as of 11:00, Ukraine’s air defense shot down or suppressed 194 drones of the Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas types, and other drones in the north, south, and east of the country.
There were 16 confirmed drone strikes at 10 locations, and debris from downed drones was recorded at 11 locations.
