Ukraine is preparing for various possible scenarios on the Chernihiv–Kyiv axis, taking into account intelligence data and Russia’s actions, President Volodymyr Zelensky said following a meeting with army corps commanders.
“We received a briefing on our preparations for different scenarios on the Chernihiv–Kyiv direction, taking into account intelligence information and Russia’s constant attempts to find additional ways to prolong and expand the war,” Zelensky wrote on Telegram on Tuesday.
According to the president, together with acting Defense Minister Yevhen Khmara and Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Pavlo Palisa, he continued a series of meetings with army corps commanders focused on the frontline’s priority needs, the protection of border areas, and the implementation of Ukraine’s defense strategy.
The meeting was attended by commanders of the 9th, 12th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 18th, and 21st army corps, as well as the 30th Marine Corps.
The participants also analyzed the situation in the relevant areas, discussed the defense of Kherson and communities in the Dnipropetrovsk region, including Nikopol, as well as the need to counter Russian drones, provide additional supplies, and strengthen frontline air defense.
According to Zelenskyy, the meeting also identified the necessary decisions to continue implementing the army corps reform.
