The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) carried out a missile strike on an industrial zone in Yelets, Russia, on 25 October. The strike targeted the Energia plant, which specialises in the production of chemical power sources, according to an investigation by Astra based on eyewitness footage.

The facility manufactures batteries for drones, power cells for air defence missile systems, and batteries for aircraft and naval vessels. The Ukrainian monitoring channel Supernova+ also confirmed that the plant was the target of the Ukrainian strike.

PJSC Energia is subject to sanctions imposed by the United States, European Union, United Kingdom, Canada, Switzerland, Japan, Australia and Ukraine.

Energia has previously been targeted in attacks. In May 2025, a strike caused a fire in one of the plant's workshops, injuring nine employees. Further attempts to strike the facility were reported in January and April 2026.
