Newly appointed Ukrainian Ambassador to Italy Igor Brusilo has formally presented his credentials to President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella during an official ceremony held on June 18.
According to the Embassy of Ukraine in Italy, the ceremony marked the formal start of Brusilo’s diplomatic mission in Rome.
Following the presentation, Brusilo thanked the Italian president and the Italian people for their consistent support of Ukraine and comprehensive assistance since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
The two sides also discussed the further development of bilateral cooperation, the security situation in Ukraine amid Russia’s ongoing military aggression, and continued joint efforts by Ukraine and international partners to achieve what they described as a just and lasting peace.
President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Brusilo as Ukraine’s ambassador to Italy on March 3. Prior to the appointment, Brusilo had served since March 2021 as deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
