European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and a European country will provide Ukraine with €85 million to purchase additional gas supplies, announced First Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Denys Shmyhal.

“€85 million through EBRD instruments for buying extra gas for Ukraine. Work to secure the corresponding grant from a European country is nearly complete,” Shmyhal wrote on Telegram on Tuesday.

He noted that the matter was discussed during an online conversation with EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso.

“We are grateful to our partners! We will continue working together to find additional sources of funding,” the Energy Minister emphasized.

Shmyhal also stressed that ongoing financial support from the EBRD for Ukrenergo and Ukrhydroenergo remains critical, as it helps ensure repairs, equipment upgrades, and implementation of new solutions so that people have light and heat.
