Ukraine is seeking 300 missiles for Patriot air defence systems to strengthen protection against Russian ballistic missiles during the winter period.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said this during a meeting with journalists.

“I wanted to find 300 Patriot missiles for the winter package. The request from our Air Force is for 360. But when only 600 are produced per year, securing 360 is not easy,” he said.

According to Zelensky, finding 300 Patriot missiles is difficult, particularly given that Russia already has 600 ballistic missiles.

“We are working with countries on additional options. And I would very much like to believe that we can find a way to obtain a small percentage of US stockpiles — say, 5% or 10%. We are ready to pay for these supplies. America would be able to replenish its stockpile, while we would be able to get through the winter. Such a political decision by the United States on supplying these missiles could make a major difference both in protecting lives and diplomatically,” the president added.
