Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups are currently not showing activity at the border, however, the Russian forces has changed tactics and is using small assault groups.
This was reported on air by the spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andrii Demchenko.
“We are not recording the activity of enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups when speaking directly about the border of Ukraine with Russia. Their activity had already decreased earlier,” Demchenko noted.
According to him, instead, the Russian forces are trying to exert pressure in other ways and is searching for weak points in the defense.
“Instead of the activity of enemy sabotage groups, we now see that the enemy is more actively using the tactics of small assault groups, trying to probe our defense and expand the zone of control directly along the state border line,” Demchenko said.
He specified that such activity is recorded in different sections of the border, in particular in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
"The enemy does not stop attempts to find a “weak spot” in order to expand offensive actions and advance further into the territory of Ukraine," the spokesperson added.
At the same time, on the Ukraine–Belarus border:
"No movement of equipment or build-up of Belarusian forces is currently observed," Demchenko informed.
However, according to the spokesperson, despite the absence of signs of active force build-up, the Ukraine–Belarus direction continues to be considered potentially threatening, so the Defense Forces must be ready for any development of the situation.
