SSU drones struck one of Russia’s largest oil refineries, Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez, located more than 1,500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
The special operation was carried out as part of tasks set by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to reduce Russia’s military and economic potential.
Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez is one of Russia’s largest oil refineries, with a capacity of nearly 13 million tonnes per year. It supplies fuel both to the civilian sector and to the Russian military.
According to the SSU, “a fire broke out at the refinery after the drones hit.”
Preliminary information indicates that a primary oil refining unit, one of the facility’s key technological installations, is on fire.
“Strikes on such refineries are strategically important because they produce fuel for military equipment, aviation and the logistics of the occupying army. In addition, the oil refining industry remains one of the main sources of revenue for the Russian budget, which finances the war against Ukraine,” the SSU emphasized.
