A Tanzania-flagged vessel was attacked while sailing towards one of Ukraine’s ports, killing the captain and injuring three crew members.
Ukraine’s Ministry for Restoration, Infrastructure and Transport reported this.
“Russia continues to attack civilian shipping in the Black Sea. On September 17, while sailing towards one of Ukraine’s ports, a Tanzania-flagged vessel was attacked by a Russian UAV,” the ministry said.
According to the ministry, the vessel’s captain was killed in the strike, while three other crew members were injured. Information about the condition of the vessel is still being clarified.
The ministry called on the international community to respond appropriately to systematic Russian attacks on Ukrainian ports, port infrastructure and civilian merchant vessels.
It also called for further coordinated action to strengthen the protection of civilian shipping and the security of international logistics routes.
