Russian forces carried out massive attacks on Ukraine over the past week, using around 2,100 drones, nearly 1,700 guided aerial bombs and 78 missiles of various types, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

“In this week alone, Russia launched around 2,100 drones at Ukraine. A significant proportion of them were jet-powered Shaheds, which the Russians are using in an attempt to destroy the economy and people’s lives. Russian forces also used nearly 1,700 guided aerial bombs and 78 missiles of various types,” Zelensky wrote on Telegram on Sunday.

According to the President, Russian forces targeted energy infrastructure, Ukrainian Railways, businesses and residential buildings overnight and in the morning.

Odessa, in particular, was attacked with missiles and drones.

Recovery work is continuing in many western regions following the overnight strikes. Emergency and other services are also working near the Ukrainian-Polish border in the Volyn region, where a drone attack set a train locomotive on fire and damaged a petrol station.

“It is precisely to prevent these strikes from spreading further, into Europe, that Ukrainian men and women fight every day, give their lives and prevent the aggression from expanding. Russian terrorism is a common threat to many, but it certainly can and must be defeated in Ukraine,” Zelensky stressed.
