One person was killed and significant damage was reported after Russian forces launched a drone attack on Odessa overnight, according to Ukrainian emergency and regional authorities.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) confirmed in a statement on Facebook that the strike resulted in the death of one person and caused extensive damage to civilian infrastructure. The victim was a security guard whose guardroom near a construction site caught fire during the attack.
According to SES, the assault damaged 10 garage units and an administrative building located on the premises of a local car service station. Several construction trailers were also affected. Multiple vehicles—including cars, trucks, and a bus—were destroyed in the attack. Fires erupted following the strikes but were quickly contained by emergency crews.
Odesa Regional Governor Oleh Kiper stated that the city was targeted by strike drones during the night. Despite the active work of Ukrainian air defense systems, the attack led to destruction in non-military areas, once again underscoring the ongoing threat to civilian infrastructure.
“The enemy continues to terrorize our cities with drones, causing casualties and destruction,” Kiper said, emphasizing the importance of remaining vigilant during air raid alerts.
The incident is the latest in a series of drone and missile strikes that have targeted Odessa and other southern Ukrainian cities in recent months, further escalating concerns over the safety of civilians and critical infrastructure in the region.
