The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has expanded the list of foreign exchange operations permitted for NovaPay, adding payment instrument acquiring, the regulator’s press service reported.
According to the NBU, its committee responsible for supervising and regulating non-bank financial services markets decided on August 11 to issue NovaPay a new license for foreign exchange operations.
The new license allows the company to conduct foreign exchange transactions within two financial payment services: money transfers without opening an account and payment instrument acquiring.
At the same time, the NBU revoked NovaPay’s previous license, which permitted foreign exchange operations only for money transfers without opening an account. The regulator explained that revoking the previous license while issuing a new one is part of the standard procedure when expanding the range of permitted foreign exchange operations.
The volume of transfers through NovaPay increased by 41% year-on-year in the first half of 2026, reaching UAH 391 billion, while the number of transactions rose by 12% to 258 million.
In 2025, NovaPay increased its revenue by 10.4% to UAH 10.01 billion, while net profit fell by 22% to UAH 2.58 billion.
NovaPay was founded in 2001 and is part of the Nova group, which includes Nova Poshta. The company provides financial services online and offline through Nova Poshta branches. In 2023, it became the first non-bank financial institution in Ukraine to receive an expanded NBU license allowing it to open accounts and issue payment cards.
The NovaPay payment system is included in the NBU’s list of important payment systems based on its monitoring of operations in 2025.
According to the regulator, NovaPay accounts for approximately 22.7% of the total volume of domestic money transfers in Ukraine.
