The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed that three Russian warships were hit during a strike by Ukraine’s Defence Forces on September 9. The confirmation was made following an analysis of additional data.
“It has been confirmed that fuel oil storage facilities in Novorossiysk, Russia’s Krasnodar region, were hit on September 9, 2026, along with at least three Russian vessels: the small minesweeper Zheleznyakov, the frigate Admiral Essen and the Project 11711 large landing ship Pyotr Morgunov,” the General Staff said.
The General Staff also reported that overnight on September 10, units of Ukraine’s Defence Forces struck the Makhachkala Commercial Sea Port in Russia’s Republic of Dagestan. A fire was recorded at the facility, while the extent of the damage is still being assessed.
Earlier, it was reported that overnight on September 9, Ukraine’s Defence Forces, including units of the Unmanned Systems Forces, struck a number of military targets in Novorossiysk and Anapa.
According to Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Novorossiysk naval base lost several military vessels, including missile carriers. Among the targets was the Admiral Essen frigate, which was reportedly struck by a Neptune missile.
The strike on the Makhachkala Commercial Sea Port was reportedly carried out using FP-1 drones produced by Ukrainian company Fire Point.
