Ukrainian drones attacked what local authorities described as “civilian infrastructure” in Saratov overnight on September 11, according to Saratov region Governor Roman Busargin.
An analysis of footage posted by local residents conducted by Astra indicates that one of the targets was the Saratov oil refinery, owned by Rosneft. A fire broke out at the facility following the drone attack.
The refinery has reportedly been targeted at least 16 times since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Another target of the drone attack was an Ozon logistics centre. Residents initially reported a major fire at the facility, with the online marketplace later confirming the incident.
Ukrainian drones began targeting Ozon warehouses in late August. So far, seven logistics hubs have reportedly been hit in the Samara, Rostov and Belgorod regions, as well as Krasnodar region, Bashkortostan and Dagestan.
Separately, an apartment building on Geroyev Maloy Zemli Street in Volgograd was damaged in a missile attack overnight, according to Volgograd region Governor Andrei Bocharov.
Two men, aged 42 and 55, were injured and taken to hospital, he said. Missile debris also fell on the grounds of an “industrial facility in the south of the city”.
Bocharov said authorities were assessing the damage to the facility and dealing with the consequences of the attack.
According to Ukrainian monitoring channel Supernova+, the facility targeted was the Volgograd oil refinery owned by Lukoil.
