During his first visit to Chernihiv, Denmark’s Ambassador to Ukraine, Thomas Lund-Sorensen, took part in a ceremony marking the start of large-scale construction of social housing supported by Denmark.

This was reported on Facebook by the Danish Embassy in Ukraine.

The project, funded by the GAU Foundation, includes the construction of eight residential complexes with 412 apartments for internally displaced persons, as well as a preschool for 200 children. After the war, the housing will be converted into affordable social housing, the embassy noted.

“The distinctive feature of this project is its clear social focus, its scale, and the fact that it is fully financed through private contributions from Denmark,” the ambassador said.

During his visit to Chernihiv, the Danish diplomat also met with city officials, including leadership of municipal enterprises, and visited the 1st State Fire and Rescue Unit of Chernihiv.
