Along the border with Russia in the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions, Russian forces are mainly carrying out shelling, while infantry activity remains localized. In some areas, attempted assaults were repelled and the Russian forces suffered losses.
This was reported on air by Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
“First of all, it is shelling. It cannot be said that along the entire length of the border the enemy is showing any significant activity with infantry groups or attacks — this is not the case,” Demchenko said.
According to him, in Sumy region the Russian army is concentrating activity in the Khotin and Yunakivka communities, but is unable to advance.
“In the defensive sectors of the State Border Guard Service units, in particular in the direction of the settlement of Varachyne, the enemy is unable to move forward and instead is suffering losses,” he emphasized.
Demchenko added that in Kharkiv region the most active actions were recorded toward Vovchanski Khutory, but the assault attempt was repelled.
“Yesterday there was also an attempt to storm our positions, but it was repelled and the enemy suffered losses,” the spokesperson stressed.
At the same time, according to Demchenko, in other areas of Kharkiv region Russian activity has decreased due to significant losses.
“The enemy may still show some activity, but weather conditions also do not favor the opponent in expanding attacks along the border. Nevertheless, we must be ready for any developments,” he concluded.
