Russian attacks across several Ukrainian regions over the past day killed at least five people and injured more than 40, damaging homes, businesses and civilian infrastructure.
In Kherson region, two people were killed and 15 injured as Russian forces attacked Kherson and dozens of other settlements with aircraft, drones and artillery. Three apartment buildings and six private houses were damaged, along with an administrative building, a shop and vehicles.
In Sumy region, an 83-year-old woman was killed when a Russian drone struck a car in the Sumy community. At least 16 people were injured in several attacks, including 12 passengers when Russian drones struck a train in Sumy district. The injured train passengers included men and women aged between 19 and 82.
Russian forces carried out nearly 40 attacks on 20 settlements in Sumy region between the morning of September 8 and the morning of September 9, using artillery, mortars, FPV drones, other UAVs and guided aerial bombs. Civilian infrastructure and residential buildings were damaged in several communities.
A 78-year-old man was also killed in the Mykolaivka rural community after an unidentified object exploded. Authorities did not specify whether the incident was directly connected to the latest Russian attacks.
In Mykolaiv region, one person was killed and four others required medical assistance following a massive combined Russian attack over the past day and on Wednesday morning. In Mykolaiv, a two-storey private house and a garage were destroyed. Rescuers recovered the body of a 70-year-old woman from the rubble. A 66-year-old man was hospitalised in moderate condition, while three other people, including a 15-year-old, received medical assistance. A fire at the site was extinguished.
Emergency crews also responded to several other fires across Mykolaiv, including a major blaze at a shopping centre, as well as fires at a café and a motor transport enterprise.
In Dnipropetrovsk region, three people were injured as Russian forces launched more than 20 drone attacks on four districts overnight. A 51-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman were hospitalised in moderate condition, while a 15-year-old boy did not require hospitalisation.
More than 10 private houses and at least one apartment building were damaged in Dnipro, along with a building-materials warehouse. Damage was also reported in the Nikopol, Kryvyi Rih and Synelnykove districts, affecting businesses, infrastructure, apartment buildings and vehicles.
Russian forces carried out 945 strikes on 46 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region over the past 24 hours, killing one person and injuring seven others. Ivan Fedorov, co-chair of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Defence Council, reported this.
“One person was killed and seven others were injured as a result of Russian strikes on Zaporizhzhia and the Zaporizhzhia and Polohy districts. In total, Russian forces carried out 945 strikes on 46 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region over the past 24 hours,” the statement said.
In Kharkiv, a Russian combat drone struck the roof of a five-storey residential building in the Kyivskyi district, damaging around 10 windows. No casualties were reported. Another drone hit a warehouse in the Kholodnohirskyi district, causing a fire.
Kyiv region was also subjected to extensive overnight and morning attacks, with strikes reported in the Bila Tserkva, Brovary, Boryspil, Fastiv, Obukhiv and Bucha districts.
Two people were killed and seven injured, including two children. Both fatalities were recorded in the Bucha district, where four people, including a child, were also injured. Two people were injured in the Brovary district, while a child was injured in the Boryspil district.
In Bila Tserkva, a drone attack caused a fire at a food-processing enterprise. Emergency crews worked through the night to contain the blaze despite repeated air-raid alerts and the threat of further strikes.
A total of 31 sites were damaged across Kyiv region, including 11 private houses, two apartment buildings, five industrial and warehouse facilities, administrative and utility buildings, and 12 vehicles.
