Ukraine’s Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA) has announced a competition to select a manager for the seized Mozart Hotel in the historic centre of Odessa.

“ARMA has announced a competition to select a manager for the seized Mozart Hotel in Odessa — an architectural monument dating from 1870, located in the historic centre of the city next to the Odessa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre,” the agency said.

The asset includes an operating hotel and restaurant complex, which ARMA said has significant tourism and investment potential.

The property was seized and transferred to ARMA’s management under a court decision. According to investigators, the beneficial owners of the asset were Russian citizens.

“Transferring such assets into management makes it possible to preserve their value, ensure their proper operation and use them in the interests of the state,” ARMA said.

According to an earlier report by 368.media, the Mozart Hotel in Odessa was owned through proxies by Russian businessman Igor Akivison, who owns factories and companies in St Petersburg.

The report said Akivison controlled several hotels in Odessa operating under the Mozart Hotel Group brand.
